Melton Mowbray: Insp. Nigel Peters’ August report

September 8th, 2009 | Posted by Admin

Insp Nigel PetersHello again to you all. It’s time to tell you what is occurring within the borough and to update you on our crime figures.

Traffic Issues
Last month, at the Waltham Neighbourhood Watch meeting, I was asked if I would support the placement of speed- monitoring equipment at each end of this village on the A607 and also on the Goadby Road approach.

I have been informed that the monitoring equipment was indeed placed in the last few weeks and I am now awaiting analysis of the data. I shall share this information with you, once received.

Crime Update
Distraction Burglary is a particularly nasty offence as it usually targets the most vulnerable members of our community. Sadly, I have to report that we have seen an increase in it, in our area too.

Both categories of burglary are showing reductions. Across the Borough I note a reduction of 32 offences on this time last year, that is 33% down. The Wards of Croxton Kerrial and Asforbdy both have significant reductions – down in excess of 80%.
